To do is to learn.

My art is driven by the materials I use. I am a collage artist and spend much of my time looking at books, magazines, and other ephemera from our past. As my practice has deepened, I've become sharply aware of the disconnect between how our culture portrays itself in its media, versus the honest private side found in photo albums, scrapbooks, and diaries. When I fix the private and the public together in my work, I'm pursuing a timeline that looks more like reality.
