HI MY NAME IS RYAN - "THE SEX SHOW"

Recorded live in 2006, this monologue seeks to chronicle the complete sexual history of the performer. It is both funny, intense, confusing and rewarding-- just like sex should be!

From the liner notes:

"I constantly want to "perfect myself" not only as an artist but as a human being. Its why I do a lot of things and why I chose to share so many personal/intimate things for this performance. I want to break down walls that prevent me from being honest and confidant in all I do and say."
--- Ryan Avery.

45+ minutes, $6.00 shipping included.

I set out to ask the most diverse group of voice-based/found sound artists I could, and was pleasantly surprised at all the talents who said yes.

The Summer Vacations of my youth were times of great self indulgence and creativity. I'd spend hours sitting in front of the late-night TV watching reruns (Honeymooners, Jack Benny . . . classics), and in the day exploring the creek behind my family house, drawing, and combing flea markets & garage sales for oddities. At the same time, I was developing my love for storytelling, natural & found sounds, and obsessive collecting. "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" isn't really about summers or vacations, its about the idea of being indulgent and passionate about something "your own," about how being idle and daydreaming can actually lead to amazing things. I hope this collection helps you remember some of your own passions, and more so, encourages you to indulge in something you miss. Get your favorite mix, hit the road, and play hooky! There's no telling what greatness it could lead to!

"Like an extended NPR segment, it demands the listener's attention, wondering what's next.
It's a compilation of summer recollections that will fire the memories of the listener, transporting them back to childhood summer adventures, from the opening sounds of the neighborhood ice cream truck, to having to grow up and actually go to work. This one's for anyone who's ever had an employee review, received a weird answering machine message, or just been a kid."

Ryan Avery is a performance artist from Phoenix, Arizona. His numerous projects included hosting a talk show, fronting the cult punk band Father's Day, and playing a retarded 32-year-old man-child with the underground theatre troupe "Uncle Sku's Clubhouse". His noteriety earned him a ten-page cover-story in the Phoenix New Times. A devout Mormon, he left it all behind to serve a two-year mission in Portland, Oregon.

The raw material for this CD comes from a cassette tape Ryan sent while at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. The tape included conversations, singing, diary entries, and random bits of noise. We invited four of his friends to edit, augment, and manipulate the material into songs or sound collages.

There are only 50 copies available of this 60+ minute CDR.
The cost of the CD is $6.00 (shipping included).
