The art of Peter Koppen, Microships

Have you ever the sensation that you’ve met your long lost sibling?

german origami society magazine called der Falter. Issue 5 from April 1991

I was recently reviewing some old documents for colleagues in the Dreamboat Research Project (news to follow), when I found a reference in a Dutch language origami journal called “der Falter” to a Munich based artist who only works in hand-folded paper boats. The magazine is from 1991 and isn’t available online, so it took a few hours of deep internet research before I was finally able to track down their name.

I don’t know how I’d never heard of Peter Koppen before, but his Microship creations are truly the work of a unique vision. Based on his website, he’s a singular eccentric and artist with a vision. He is also the world record holder for most paper boats folded!

I plan to reach out and make a connection this year. Below are some examples of his work.
